Overview
Event Proposals let you test an idea before committing to a scheduled event.
Instead of picking a time and hoping people can make it, you:
- Share the idea
- Gauge interest
- (Optionally) align on timing
- Convert it into a confirmed Event
Step 1: Propose an Idea
Create a proposal with:
- A title and description
- A minimum number of interested followers required
Followers can then express interest in the idea.
Step 2: Reach Interest Threshold
Once enough people show interest:
- The proposal moves forward
- You can proceed to scheduling
This ensures you only invest time in events people actually want.
Step 3: Timing Planning
You can enable a timing phase where interested followers:
- Vote on their preferred time options
You define:
- The time choices
- The minimum number of votes required
Step 4: Event Becomes Official
Once the timing threshold is met:
- The proposal becomes a scheduled Event
- Followers can RSVP as usual
Why Use Event Proposals?
Event Proposals reduce friction and increase success.
Benefits include:
- No guesswork
- Better timing
- Higher participation
- Less pressure on the host
You know people are interested before planning
Let the group help decide when it works
People are more likely to attend when they helped shape the event
You do not have to commit upfront
When to Use Event Proposals
Event Proposals are ideal when:
- You are unsure if people are available
- You want to avoid scheduling conflicts
- The event requires a minimum number of participants
- You want group input on timing
Examples
Poker Night
- Needs at least 5 players
- Proposal gathers interest first
- Group votes on the best night
Group Hike
- Host is not sure who is available
- Followers show interest
- Time is selected based on votes
Dinner Out
- Needs a minimum group size
- Timing depends on availability
Event Proposal vs Event
Event Proposal:
- Idea first
- Interest required
- Optional time voting
- Becomes an Event later
Event:
- Already scheduled
- Ready for RSVP
Best Practices
- Set a realistic interest threshold
- Keep the idea clear and appealing
- Use timing voting when schedules may vary
- Do not overcomplicate, simple proposals work best
Tips
- Use proposals for anything that requires coordination
- Great for recurring or group-dependent activities
- If you already know the time, you can skip the voting phase
Example Flow
You propose "Friday Poker Night" with a minimum of 5 people
Five followers show interest
You enable time voting (Friday vs Saturday)
Enough votes come in for Friday
The event becomes official
People RSVP
Summary
Event Proposals help turn ideas into real gatherings without the friction.
They allow you to:
- Test interest
- Align schedules
- Create better, more successful events
